Title Test Engineer

Reports to Test Engineering Manager

Job summary

Under limited supervision, perform test and inspect electronic components, surface mount and through hole assemblies, subassemblies, and customer RMA’s using a variety of test equipment and procedures. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgment.

Summary of essential job functions
• Develop/qualify test fixtures, equipment, automated software, and test procedures specific to customer requirements.
• Support production with failure analysis, tester set-up and debugging, reduction of false failures and downtime of test equipment.
• Review test equipment designs, test capacity, data and RMA issues with customers regularly.
• Recommends and implements innovative test solutions to improve test efficiency, test coverage and product quality.
• Diagnoses issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and identifies root causes of failures and suggests corrective and preventative actions.
• Perform troubleshoot, repair, and rework to component level.

Other duties and responsibilities
• Fundamental knowledge of design, operation and components of PCB manufacturing.
• Understanding of general equipment testing, evaluation and calibration techniques
• Ability to provide direction to test technician.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
• Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum requirements
• Proven ability to methodically solve complex technical issues.
• Fundamental knowledge of troubleshooting boards to component level.
• Bachelors degree in CSE or EE from four year college or university
• Equivalent combination of related education and experience plus four years as Test Engineer in a related field. Abilities required
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret instructions written in English.
• Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
• Be able to perform light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials

Work schedule
• 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday through Friday
• Weekend and overtime work may be required
